Violent Vegetarians :)

(green types are my comments)

Vegetarianism :) sounds like something strong with "ism" at the end of the word. Yes it is strong all vegetarians as I am are violent. We eat vegetables, we are cruel.

I am doing a research on vegetarians and while searching I learned that many people do not know about vegetarian. This is my major project and I will enjoy with this!

I want to start with explaining what is vegetarianism?
Just a simple thing; It is the practice of a diet that excludes animal products. I am a vegetarian and I have just learned that there are many kinds of vegetarians. Here they are..

Lacto-ovo vegetarian
Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat no meat but do eat eggs and dairy products (ovo means eggs and lacto means dairy).

Lacto vegetarian
 Lacto vegetarians eat no meat but do eat dairy products.

Ovo vegetarian
Lacto vegetarians eat no meat but do eat eggs.

Vegan
Vegan vegetarians avoid eating any animal products. Vegans do not eat any meat products, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, or gelatin. Many vegans choose not to wear clothes containing animal products, such as leather, wool, or silk, or wear makeup tested by animals.

I am planing to do a new brand to inform young people about a healthy vegetarian lifestyle. Why young people? Because while searching I find out that mostly young people eat fast foods and they become fat in the following years, not only fat also UNHEALTHY. I thought that I should start informing children and by this way they will inform their families if they are interested in veggie life. This new brand will engage well with them because children love animals..

Did you know that eating vegetables are healthier than eating meat? and we can have all protein from vegetables that our body needs. Vegetables have more proteins that meat.

This is a great ad that peta done before. It is really nice I really like this.

Most important questions and answers I searched;
Why do people decide to be vegetarian?
People decide to become a vegetarian for many reasons. Some common motivators include the environment, animal rights, and health. You may have different reasons. Going vegetarian is an individual decision.

Are vegetarian diets healthy?
Vegetarian diets can be very healthy, but eating a balanced diet when you are vegetarian usually requires a little extra attention. Because vegetarians eliminate certain foods from their diets, they often need to work to add foods into their diet that will provide the nutrients found in meat products. By eating a variety of foods including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you can get the vitamins and nutrients you need from non-meat sources. By eating legumes, soy foods, nuts, and eggs, you can get the protein that you need to grow. Other nutrients to be concerned with are the minerals iron and calcium and the vitamins D and B12, which are especially important for vegans.

Did you know these facts?
1-Vegetarian foods are a major source of nutrition for most people in the world.
2-Vegetarians have lower rates of heart disease and some forms of cancer than non-vegetarians.
3-Vegetarian diets can be simple and easy to prepare.
According to the ADA, vegetarians are at lower risk for developing:
4-Heart disease
5-Colorectal, ovarian, and breast cancers
6-Diabetes
7-Obesity
8-Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Why being vegetarian?
- It's Healthier;
 Vegetarians are healthier than people who eat meat.
- It's Humane
; Millions of animals are killed in slaughterhouses around the world. In the US, some half a million are killed each hour, while in the UK over 600 million are killed each year.
- It's Economical
; Meat is expensive, both economically and agriculturally. With so many starving people in the world today it is a criminal waste of food to produce it. Meat-animals are fed perfectly good plant food which could have been fed directly to starving people. For instance, it takes 17 kilos of corn, beans, grain, etc, to produce one kilo of beef in feedlot cattle.
- It's Environmentally; Friendly
In Central America, entire forests are felled or burnt to provide land for grazing cattle. Most of these cattle end up as second-quality hamburger meat for the North American junk food market.

While doing my research I generally check the FAQs, because while designing it is really important. I mean as a designer I feel like I have to answer my clients questions, I have to inform them and I have to give what they want. I believe that faq s are common problems that people have. Now I want to share my FAQ researches, this is more young people's questions;

Isn't vegetarianism unhealthy?

Vegetarianism is a healthy choice as long as a wide range of foods is eaten. Chocolate and chips are vegetarian, however, they do not represent a balanced diet. Research comparing a balanced meat diet to a balanced veggie diet found that the vegetarian diet was the healthiest. (The Oxford Vegetarian Study).

Isn’t protein only available from meat?
Protein is available in all foods apart from refined white sugar and some oils and your protein needs are automatically met by a balanced, varied diet. Meat does provide protein, however it is only one source. Nuts, beans, eggs, soya, textured vegetable protein, Quorn, and lentils are all excellent sources of protein.

Isn't eating meat natural?

Arguing that an action is natural can be quite problematic. A common argument used by meat-eaters is that because we have canine teeth this is evidence that we have been ‘designed’ to eat meat. However we also have a short intestine which is not ideal for meat consumption so bang goes that design argument!

Isn't vegetarian food more expensive than meat dishes?

Pre-packaged foods (ready-meals) are expensive whether they are vegetarian or meat–based. Vegetarian dishes in restaurants tend to be lower priced than most meat dishes, and preparing vegetarian food from scratch at home can be very inexpensive. As is true with cooking non-veggie food, the cost all depends on the ingredients you choose and the quality of the products you buy.

Doesn’t cooking vegetarian food take a long time?

Just as in meat-based cooking, there are some veggie dishes that take a long time to prepare and there are others that are super-quick. It all depends on what you are in the mood for and how much time you have on your hands. For some quick, easy recipes.

What would happen to the farmers?
Vegetarians need farmers too! Who do you think we get our vegetables from? There will still be plenty of jobs for farmers! If everyone in the world went veggie, some livestock farmers would move into arable farming while others may move into other food-related industries. As with all industries, if the demand for a product goes up, numbers employed in that industry will increase. If the demand goes down, fewer people will be employed. Vegetarians are certainly not trying to put farmers out of work but if farmers did become unemployed that is no reason to keep farming animals for food. If it is right to stop it, the employment prospects of those who work in the meat industry are no reason to keep it going. As has been pointed out, if we got rid of all crime, the police would be out of work and if we got rid of all illness, doctors and nurses would be out of work: but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to get rid of crime and illness does it?

If we all went veggie what would happen to the animals?

Let’s be realistic! If we did all go veggie it wouldn’t happen overnight and therefore the number of farmed animals would also reduce gradually. We would certainly not be over-run by wild packs of farmed animals or have to look after ‘spare’ farm animals.

Aren't animals less intelligent and less important than humans?
As the top of the food chain, shouldn’t we be allowed to do what we like with animals?
Some argue that animals have less intelligence than humans but why should we use this rationale to measure them? Are more intelligent humans more important than less intelligent humans? Pigs have been proven to be smarter than dogs, yet many people will happily eat a pig while shuddering at the idea of eating their pet dog. All animals have a value within themselves. They also have the ability to suffer mentally and physically. If we consider ourselves a compassionate human race, we need to reconsider our relationship with all animals, not just the ones we keep in our homes.

If you’re a vegetarian, why are you wearing leather shoes?

First of all, it may be the case that your shoes are not made of leather; they just look like they are. There are lots of vegetarian shoes on the market these days. Secondly, many vegetarians have leather products from their pre-veggie days and have made the choice to continue wearing them rather than have them go to waste. There are also some people who are not comfortable eating meat, yet continue wearing leather. It is a question of where you as an individual choose to draw a line. Of course, if you are not comfortable with an animal dying for your dinner, you probably aren’t comfortable with them dying for your clothes and footwear either.

Here it is. Where will you get the protein if you are selected a veggie life.

And vegetarian life is healthier, it is proved. It is reality, the branding will be successful. Here it is;
Has it been Proven that a Vegetarian Diet is Really Healthier?
The short answer is a resounding yes; it has been conclusively proven through extensive worldwide studies by independent, highly respected international health advisory boards that a vegetarian diet is significantly healthier than one which includes meat and animal products. This is true for all ages, infant to adult, and includes pregnant and lactating women.
Studies have found a direct statistical correlation between decreased meat intake and increased health benefits. The chances of developing chronic diseases including high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease, obesity, kidney failure, osteoporosis and cancer, is markedly decreased among vegetarians and vegans by as much as forty percent. Along with this favorable news, chances for longevity might increase by some twenty percent. Owing to these benefits, health insurance companies commonly offer discount rates to vegetarians and vegans.

The British Medical Association (BMA) was first to shed light on the many benefits of a vegetarian diet in a 1986 report. Based on a large volume of research, it concluded that vegetarians not only tend to have lower cholesterol, but also significantly reduced instances of coronary heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, certain types of cancers, gall stones and large intestine disorders.

According to these questions I will do my design concept development following days. My aim is to create a nice brand which can attract young people, so that they will inform their families.

Some ads that I found really strong;

Why it is green to go veggie?
Avoid CO2 production
Reduce nitrous oxide produce
Save large amount of water
Reduce destruction of top soil
Reduce destruction of wildlife habitats...
